Newland Construction is a third generation family business. From its foundation in 1925 by Sidney & Alec Newland, the company has focused on delivering a high quality and personal service to its customers.
Current directors Paul and Andrew Newland have centred the company on key business areas, while still maintaining the calibre of service that represents Sidney and Alec's legacy. Their drive has been for a steady increase in the company's size as part of a long term strategy of development and growth.
We look to undertake projects between £5,000 and £3 million in our key business areas, which include:
Primary Schools
Secondary Schools
Colleges / Universities
Churches / Synagogues
Fire Stations
Youth Facilities
New Build
Maintenance
Refurbishment
Hospital / Surgery Refurbishment
Hospital / Surgery Extensions
We have developed extensive skills and experience in the fields of new build and refurbishments, with many projects being undertaken on occupied sites. Our ability to co-ordinate with stakeholders such as end-users/residents has ensured that we regularly receive recommendations from satisfied customers.
In the last five years turnover has grown consistently, whilst profits have increased similarly. Our core team is supported by a long term established workforce and a core of supply chain members, all of whom have repeatedly demonstrated their skills and commitment to Newland Construction.
The realisation that construction is about more than just building things means that the firm now offers a service and a depth of skills to its clients that would make its founding fathers proud. We recognise that partnering and collaborative working initiatives fit closely with our own business ideals. We have employed a Management Consultant and Collaborative Working Specialist, Value By Design to assist with the development of our business processes and staff training.
As a business we have highlighted key areas of commitment:
As part of our commitment to the local community we have always invested heavily in apprenticeships and have a long term strategy of working with Oaklands & Turnford Building Colleges and Hertfordshire Careers Service. As a result of these relationships we regularly take placements from 16 year olds and upwards and recently we were very proud to receive an Employer of the Year award from Turnford College in recognition of our efforts.
As a family business we have always been keen to develop social inclusion. As a result of this, over 90% of our supply chain is based within the local area. We feel that engaging with the community in this way creates a high level of cohesion and involvement; local projects are often completed by entirely local staff, labourers and suppliers.
We have focused the business on offering a stable solution to clients, while maintaining the same exacting standards as our predecessors. Our goal is ultimately to introduce the next generation of Newlands to a strong and profitable business with an excellent reputation.
